Description

David Luke, PhD, is Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Greenwich. He is editor of the anthology, DMT Dialogues: Encounters with the Spirit Molecule, and author of Otherworlds: Psychedelics and Exceptional Human Experience.

Here he points out that DMT is a natural substance found in most plants and animals (with the exception of fungi and insects). It produces a very powerful psychedelic experience, although the major effects may last only ten minutes. Most users experience communication with what appear to be sentient spiritual entities. Often they have a cartoonish appearance. David explores the various metaphysical interpretations that have been offered regarding these ostensible entities.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is past-vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology, and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that association for his contributions to the study of consciousness.
