Near-Infrared Drone footage of the beautifully ancient tower and fort of Castelo de Vilar Maior in the eastern part of Portugal.

NIR Drone filming is not only useful for NDVI Classification but also has great potential in the surveying of archaeological remains and ancient ruins using SAVI Classification on the soil and rock in the images captured.

Using newly developed filters on converted commercial drone cameras, it is hoped that the expense of performing aerial surveys will decrease significantly so that NGOs can affordable use the NIR band for digital surveys of the area and to perform standardised classification techniques to achieve definitive solutions to the problems of environmental monitoring and classification.
