Mack Maloney grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston and was taught to read and write by the nuns at St. Ann's School. His father was a veteran of World War II and he used to read military books all the time. As a child, Mack started reading them too, along with a lot of science fiction. He received a BS in journalism and a graduate degree in filmmaking from Emerson College. He was a sports reporter for two years after college before joining corporate America as a publicist for General Electric Company. Mack started writing books in 1984, and have been doing it full time since 1987, penning over 40 books.

Commander Cobra: A Gryphon is a spiritual and mystical “hybirdized” creature of two known animals of our world: eagles and lions. It has many legends – divinity, guardianship, and seeker of truth. It serves as an excellent symbol and metaphor for the task force and the show’s mission. Each week the exploration and discussions are on for the paranormal, extraterrestrial, conspiracy, black-special-military operations & program, geo-political challenge at hand, and often the intersection of a topic in all these dimensions. It is in a parallel track to the many great shows on KGRA. It serves the listeners of KGRA, one of the best on the planet. As often described to guests and sponsors when working them for an interview or presentation on the show it can and will go from serious to silly and everywhere in between in less than sixty seconds and return. TF Gryphon is indebted to outstanding production support by KGRA staff and the committed listeners contributing support, commentary, and ideas.
